In conclusion, there isn't a "right way" to consume B*RS, you can pretty much start anywhere. In late 2021 we got the confirmation that the franchise would be revived with the release of BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DAWN FALL, a 12 episode long anime with a grittier art direction, and BLACK ROCK SHOOTER FRAGMENT, a supposed gacha (supposed because we really don't have any clues as to how exactly this game will work, I only assume it will be a gacha as the developer has only made that kind of game so far.) with a strinkling resemblance to Arknights, but we have yet to see any kind of gameplay yet. We've also had some other minor things along the way like "Petit Rock Shooter" which was a browser game released around the same time as "BLACK★ROCK-CHAN!" which was then remastered with the release of THE GAME, but unfortunately, it was never archived in any way, it only released on iOS devices and on NicoNico's browser game platform. BLACK ROCK SHOOTER BEAST, seen in his book "BLK".), but we did get a 10th-anniversary artwork back in 2017 which spawned a special figure that got delayed to around 2020. ![]() Past that point the franchise went dormant apart from the occasional illustration huke would post on his socials and/or artbooks (i.e. After all that, they tried to make a Mobage title (nowadays you'd consider it a gacha) called "BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER ARCANA", but it didn't last long due to Mobage having a decreasing user base back in 2013. This game also received a manga adaptation but its story beats diverge quite a bit in comparison to the original plot, so they complement but also contradict each other. Shortly after, we got "BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER THE GAME", a PSP title with a very different approach to its universe compared to previous works which remind me a lot of Gears of War, a game that huke showed interest in if you look at his Pixiv. In the meantime, we also got two mangas, a 4-koma comedy (BLACK★ROCK-CHAN!) and an action-drama (BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER: INNOCENT SOUL). They then funded an OVA which later on was turned into a full-fledged TV show which received a few of the most intense 3D CGI fights in anime history, Sanzigen, TRIGGER, and Ordet were involved in the production. ![]() Good Smile Company struck a deal with huke after the song turned into a hit and picked it up for manufacturing of figures and Nendoroids, which spawned countless products. The franchise started out as a handful of drawings which served as inspiration for a Vocaloid song made by supercell after ryo (the band's lead.) met huke (character designer mostly known for his work in Steins Gate and later on B*RS.) through NicoNico. I'm surprised this is a recurring question but here is a quick rundown:
